Cycle: every two years
Cospar is a major international conference in space science, which takes place in a two-year intervals at different locations in the American, Asian and European continent. The accompanying space exhibition in the Bremen Arena and a panel discussion with space travel prominence are also open to the public. At the COSPAR March meetings, the Program Committee and Bureau finalized the plans for the COSPAR Scientific Assembly that will be held in Istanbul, 14 July to 22 july 2018. We are looking forward to a highly scientifically productive and enjoyable Assembly.
The fundamental mission of COSPAR since its inception in 1958 has been to encourage and facilitate international cooperation in space research, unencumbered and unimpeded by geopolitical disagreements and tensions. Advances in Space Research (ASR) and Life Sciences in Space Research (LSSR) are the flagship journals for the COSPAR community. ASR is listed on the ISI Web of Science and LSSR is indexed in PubMed. Both journals are completely open to appropriate submissions from the scientific community, and individuals presenting papers at the Istanbul COSPAR Assembly are encouraged to propose their manuscripts to ASR and LSSR. it were founded in the crucible of the Cold War to provide a forum where Soviet and western scientists could meet and advance space research. Those of us who lived through that history recall how essential were the bridges that COSPAR enabled, between Soviet and western scientists, to yield a benign ending to the Cold War.
